1.What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are

Cookies are small text files a site can store in your browser. Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB and service worker caches, which let a web application keep information on your device.

VIEW is built as a progressive web app. It relies mainly on browser storage rather than traditional cookies, and this policy covers both.

    2.Why We Use Them

We use device storage to keep you signed in, to remember your preferences, to make the app work offline and load quickly, and to understand whether features work as intended.

We only use what is needed for those purposes. We do not operate third-party advertising trackers.

    3.Strictly Necessary Storage

These cannot be turned off. Without them you cannot sign in or use the Service.

    • Authentication session (localStorage key beginning sb-…-auth-token, plus matching cookies): keeps you signed in and refreshes your session. Duration: until you sign out or the session expires.
    • Security and abuse-prevention signals used by our authentication and API providers during a request. Duration: request-scoped.
    • Service worker cache: stores the application shell so the installed app loads and functions. Duration: until the app updates or you clear site data.
    • Push registration token, where you have enabled notifications, so we can deliver alerts to the right device. Duration: until you disable notifications or uninstall.

    4.Functional Storage

Optional. These remember choices that make the app more comfortable to use.

    • Theme preference (light or dark). Duration: persistent until changed.
    • Interface state such as last-used composer options and dismissed prompts. Duration: persistent until changed or cleared.
    • Video playback cache used to make reels start faster. Duration: session or until cleared.

Disabling functional storage means these choices reset each time you open the app.

    5.Analytics Storage

Optional. Used to measure aggregate product usage — which screens are opened, which features are used, and where errors occur — so we can improve the product.

Engagement events that power your feed ranking are collected server-side as part of operating the Service, and are governed by your personalisation setting rather than by this category.

    6.Performance Storage

Optional and grouped with analytics. Used to record load times, media playback stalls and error rates so we can diagnose slowness and failures.

    7.Advertising Storage

Not currently used. We do not run third-party advertising networks or advertising identifiers in the Service today. The advertising preference exists in your settings so that, if advertising is introduced, nothing personalised happens until you have opted in. We will update this policy before any advertising storage is used.

    8.Third-Party Storage

    • Supabase (authentication, database, storage): sets the session storage entries and cookies described under strictly necessary.
    • Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: stores a messaging token on your device when you enable push notifications.
    • Media delivery: media is served from our own storage; playback caching happens in your browser.

If you sign in with Google, Google may set its own cookies during the sign-in redirect, governed by Google's privacy policy.

    9.How Long Storage Lasts

Session entries are cleared when you close the browser or sign out. Persistent entries remain until they expire, until you change the related setting, or until you clear site data. Authentication tokens are refreshed periodically and are invalidated when you sign out.

    10.Managing Your Preferences

Settings → Cookies lets you accept or reject functional, analytics and advertising storage. Your choice is saved to your account, so it applies on every device where you sign in.

    11.Browser Controls

You can also block or clear storage in your browser settings, usually under Privacy or Site settings. Blocking all storage for this site will sign you out and prevent the app from working, because the authentication session cannot be kept.

Uninstalling the installed app or clearing site data removes local storage and the service worker cache, but does not delete your account or the data held on our servers.

    12.Changes to this Cookie Policy

We update this policy whenever the technologies we use change. The version and last-updated date at the top of this page reflect the current revision.
